THE DOGS RETURN TO CAPE COD BEACHES!!!

We’re very excited in our household, and ready to get out there on Day #1. Cold Nose Photo will be celebrating with a big doggy play/photo-date at the beach that evening at 6pm. Come join us, and be sure to find your dog up on this site in the coming days as we keep the celebration going!

What beach exactly? Well that’s still to be determined… by YOU! We’ve had some votes for Kalmus Beach in Hyannis, and also considering Dowses in Osterville, South Cape Beach in Mashpee, and Town Neck Beach in Sandwich. What are your thoughts?

Name: Sasha

Breed: Boxer

Age: 3.5 years

Shelter: Animal Rescue League of Brewster

Spirit: Sasha is loveable and active, and is used to being around all members of the family. She’ll play to her heart’s content with a ball, plush toys and other doggy friends.  As with most white boxers, Sasha is deaf.

Saturday, June 20th: The Cape Cod Dog in Eastham is hosting its 1st annual “Give a Dog a Home” yard sale and benefit from 9am to 4pm. Proceeds will benefit local rescue groups and the new Provincetown Bark Park.

Tuesday, June 23rd: The Hot Mutt Sundae event will be hosted by the Animal Rescue League’s Brewster chapter. Dogs and owners are invited to Ben & Jerry’s in North Eastham from 2 to 8pm (Cold Nose Photo will be there!)

Spirit: Here are a couple of hysterical excerpts from the foster family who had him until his recent trip up from North Carolina:

“He knows all of the basic commands and obeys the majority of the time! For instance, he knows he must sit to get his treats, but he will wait to see if you know!”

“He really likes his squeaky toys, even though his immediate goal is to remove the ’squeaky’ and discard it.”

“Tenderfoot is an extremely loving and very smart guy. He’s also very strong and determined. He can easily jump a four-foot fence, although he doesn’t try to run off. He just ‘does his business’ on the other side and jumps back in.”

“He loves to sleep in the bed, talks in his sleep and prefers to snuggle vs. sleep at the foot of the bed. Either with one of the other dogs or me – he’s not particular.”

Family Role: I wish I’d had the chance to get to know Ben more! If his owners visit the site, please let us know more about this adorable soft-faced boy!

Name: Jasmine

Breed: Short-Haired Pointer / Lab Mix

Age: 5 years

Town: Middleborough (but she crosses the bridge constantly!)

Favorite Cape Spot: Rock Harbor, Orleans

Family Role: Jasmine is actually an official search and rescue dog with Search Dogs Northeast, an organization that provides highly-trained canine search teams to government agencies in New England.

Name: Shiloh

Breed: Mutt

Age: 3 years

Town: East Falmouth

Favorite Cape Spot: Cranberry bogs

Family Role: Shiloh loves to roll balls of yarn around the house to help her mom’s knitting. She also has a strong penchant for stinky dead things. Lucky for Shiloh, she has a steady social calendar with her local pooch friends!

Name: Rigley

Breed: Golden Retriever

Age: 3 years

Town: West Barnstable

Favorite Cape Spot: Scorton Creek, bird sanctuary

Family Role: Rigley enjoys spending his parents’ retirement sitting right up front in the RV with them! He just returned home from a three-month trip down the East coast and back, where he made sure to sniff out all the most dog-friendly places. Whenever possible, this very white dog will lay down in a deep puddle of mud.

Breed: Husky / Doberman

Age: 11 years

Town: Marstons Mils

Favorite Cape Spot: Long Pond Conservation Area, Marstons Mills

Family Role: Bromley serves as the older, more wiser (read: calming) influence on his new little brother, Brewer. He still has a spring in his step, however, and an urgent need to make snow-angels even when there’s no snow on the grass.

Favorite Cape Spot: South Cape Beach, Mashpee

Family Role: Moxie’s mom likes to think of Moxie as a co-pilot, but it might actually be that Moxie’s in the driver’s seat most of the time. Her long tongue has sparked many nicknames, stories and giggles.
