THE DOGS RETURN TO CAPE COD BEACHES!!!

We’re very excited in our household, and ready to get out there on Day #1. Cold Nose Photo will be celebrating with a big doggy play/photo-date at the beach that evening at 6pm. Come join us, and be sure to find your dog up on this site in the coming days as we keep the celebration going!

What beach exactly? Well that’s still to be determined… by YOU! We’ve had some votes for Kalmus Beach in Hyannis, and also considering Dowses in Osterville, South Cape Beach in Mashpee, and Town Neck Beach in Sandwich. What are your thoughts?

There are a couple big initiatives to open official dog parks on this wonderful peninsula, and I wanted to share their progress!

Pilgrim Bark Park, Provincetown:

This gated, off-leash community space in Provincetown comes complete with a doggy water fountain! Pilgrim Bark Park consists of almost an acre of land enclosed with a six foot high fence and double entry gates facing away from the street. Two sections have been created — one for dogs under twenty-five pounds and a general section for all dogs. True to Provincetown’s reputation, local artists contributed to the park as well, designing benches and poop-bag stations in a canine-theme. Opening day was May 16, 2009 so hurry up and get out there!

Mashpee Dog Park:

Local dog boutique, Hot Diggity, is heading up the Mashpee Dog Park Committee as the group establishes itself as a non-profit and secures land for this future dog park. If you’re able to offer up any services, please e-mail them at woof@hotdiggityonline.com! I imagine many future Dogs of Cape Cod photo shoots will happen at this park, since it will only be a couple of minutes from my home!

Greetings all,

Many of these things tend to be tall tales to pull at your heart strings and perhaps even swindle you out of some money, but this is not one of those things. Please read the note sent to me by a dear friend below:

This is very real and very true. The guy has an appt scheduled for next week – if he can’t find a home for her by end of the day on Tuesday (May 12) – he’s going to put her down — all because his male dogs don’t like her… but apparently SHE gets along well with other dogs, is trained, wonderful and she is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!!!! And she’s only 5.

Danielle is a good friend of mine – she works with him. You can email her at danielle.fontaine@intertek.com and copy me if you want. If you can’t get to her, it looks like you can contact Mike directly at: Michael M. Houston, Senior EMC Project Engineer, Phone:978-635-8628

The dog is in Massachusetts and I can certainly help in picking up/delivering if need be… let’s save this gorgeous girl! Pictures are attached. If I didn’t have 4 already, I’d take her. I’m copying some of my way out of state dog loving friends too… just in case you know of anyone!

Jindo (Korean hunting breed)
Approximately 5 yr old, spayed, all shots, about 30 lb (probably closer to 25)
White, short hair
Very friendly, gets along will with the male dogs in our house (not so well with females)
Don’t know about children but her disposition is generally extroverted so she’s been good with whomever has visited the house.
Behaves rather well (heel, sit stay, etc…)
